How can SAPT support the research interest of psychiatric trainees?
One of SAPT's goals is to improve the involvement of assistants in psychiatric research and academic careers. For this reason, SAPT joins various initiatives for national and international research projects. Here are some possibilities:
Would you like to develop or expand a research project at national level, but don't know how to get started?
Contact us and we will provide you with support. Within our association there are members with experience in both basic and clinical research who can provide support for the creation, dissemination and ultimately publication of your project.
Would you like to participate in an international training network and create multi-centre projects with other psychiatric trainees?
Join the Research Working Group of the European Federation of Psychiatric Trainees (EFPT RWG), of which our Vice-President Davide Zani is currently Chair and our committee member Ilya Petkov Peyneshki Co-Chair. Research projects on a European level centred on psychiatric assistants are discussed and initiated in this group, as well as webinars on current and useful research topics.

Would you like to publish in a Peer-Reviewed and representative Journal?
SAPT has a special agreement with the Swiss Archives of Neurology, Psychiatry and Psychotherapy (SANP) hat guarantees it priority publication of articles. SANP is a Swiss peer-reviewed and indexed journal dedicated to topics in psychiatry, psychotherapy, neurology and neuroscience. If you would like to publish your project with us, please contact us.
The International Journal of Psychiatric Trainees is the official journal of the European Federation of Psychiatric Trainees of which ASAP is a founding member. This new Journal is Peer-Reviewed and Open Access and co-published by the International College of Neuropsychopharmacology (CINP). You are all warmly invited to submit your article for publication, which currently has very limited and affordable costs. If this is your first time dealing with a peer-reviewed publication process and you have questions, please contact us.
Would you like to get in touch with other national and international colleagues engaged in different research fields?
There are many possibilities for networking also in the field of research. Here are our tips:
- Join SAPT! Bring your contribution to our association to start research projects on a national and international level.
- Participate in the annual EFPT Forum. To participate you must first join SAPT, as only members of national associations can participate in the Annual Forum.
- Attend the annual congress of the Swiss Society for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy! Here you will meet many researchers in the field of psychiatry who are active in Switzerland. In addition, thanks to the collaboration of SAPT in 2024 there will be a Pre-Congress Day dedicated only to psychiatric assistants!
- Join the scientific sections of the European Psychiatric Association (EPA) and the annual congress. Here you can expand your network on a European level. NB: To participate in the scientific sections you need to be an EPA Member.
- Apply for the CINP Research Fellowship for Early Careers.
